Earlier this evening I was searching the internet for information about an Ole Friend Danny, a Marine Corps Buddy. A few years ago, I discovered that he had passed away in June 1999. But I didn't have any other information. Previously, during my searches I couldn't find an obituary, grave site or memorial of any kind. And so; as I often do, I was searching for his name again. But this time I added his hometown.
After a few minutes, I happened upon an obituary. Although the obituary was not that of my dear Marine Corps Buddy. The name on the obituary was however a very familiar one. As I continued to read the obituary, it became clear who's it was. The comments about this person Charles, included information about his Marine Corps Service and the name of a best friend from the same small town. It was Danny. A best friend who had preceded him in death. Charles's best friend was the same Marine that was my friend and Marine Corps Buddy. Danny and I had been in the same Platoon and deployed to Vietnam together.
Immediately I was saddened. I had known both of these men very well. Nearly fifty years ago we three had served in the Marine Corps during the same period.
Continuing my search; I finally found some information about Danny. Although there was no obituary, there was some genealogical data that led me to his Grave Marker.
Finally, after all these years...
Danny and Chuck, may you both "Rest Easy" in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
Till we meet again, Semper Fi my Brothers.
Johnny Boy
